SUNY Advocates

Dear Alumni:

Farmingdale State College needs your help. Specifically, we are hoping you will join our new coalition, SUNY Advocates, which is working to make sure our lawmakers in Albany help strengthen SUNY and colleges like Farmingdale in this legislative session.

As a Farmingdale graduate, you know the value a SUNY education can provide. We hope you will help us ensure that Farmingdale students today and into the future have the same opportunities.

Currently, SUNY stands at a very critical juncture. We believe it is necessary to do our part to help New York’s fiscal crisis but with $1.5 billion in cuts to our budget over the past three years, we are left extremely challenged. While we continue to seek restorations to our budget, we are actively advocating for solutions for the State University that will create alternative avenues for sustainable revenue for the future of our students, faculty and campus communities.

Time is short, so please take action now. Contact your local state legislators at:

http://www.nysenate.gov/senators and http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/

Please send us a copy of your letter or e-mail at alumni@farmingdale.edu

With revenue solutions like a 5-year tuition plan that is fair, predictable and responsible and reforms to the procurement and public-private partnership processes, our SUNY schools can continue to move toward academic excellence, job creation and regional economic development.

Unless Albany lawmakers here from SUNY Advocates like you, the future for Farmingdale State College will not be nearly as bright as it can and should be for our students.

Please take a moment to visit www.sunyadvocates.org and take action.

Best regards,

Eileen Hasson, Director, Alumni Affairs
